Graduating with a B.A. in Studio Arts, Brothers went on to receive her M.F.A. in Painting and Printmaking at Old Dominion University. Following graduation she accepted a position as artist-in-residence for the University of Georgia in their studies abroad program in Corona, Italy.
After a year, she began working as program director for the Center of Creative Arts in Yorklyn, Delaware where she designed their educational program and organized regional exhibitions. These positions lead her desire to teach.
Over the course of 25 years, Brothers retired from teaching college and high school art and continues to work as an exhibiting artist.
